Airbus Helicopters gets order for 100 helicopters from Chinese firm
Airbus Helicopters, the world's largest civil helicopter maker, said on Wednesday it would sell 107 helicopters to two Chinese firms, marking one of its largest orders in China.
CM International Financial Leasing Corp ( CMIFL) would buy 100 Ecureuil series rotorcraft over five years, with 10 units scheduled to be delivered in 2016, the European company, a division of Airbus Group NV, said in a statement.
HEMS999, an air ambulance operator under the MIT Group, would buy seven H130 light helicopters, with delivery expected to start at the end of this year, it said.
China simplified flight approval procedures for private aircraft in late 2013, but the fledgling market for helicopters and small aircraft is still constrained by the military's control of low altitude airspace.
Norbert Ducrot, head of Airbus Helicopter's North Asia region, estimates there will be 50,000 helicopters in China over the next 30 years as infrastructure improves and the military opens up more airspace by 2020.
